The Maxtor external enclosures are very good, both in terms of reliability
and compatibility with OS / software. The best thing to do is to look for the cheapest Maxtor external drive you can find, regardless of the disk size. You can sometimes find bargain drives on the on-sale table at the back of office stores like OfficeDepot. Then swap in a bigger drive and sell the original drive on ebay to recover the cost. - Dave "Golf Nut" wrote in message ... Hi folks, I am looking for external hard disk usb 100-200GB. Thanks for your input Dave. I have seen some sites like
http://www.htcnetstore.com/ with really competitive prices. What do u think about them? http://www.htcnetstore.com/exhardriv.html. thanks "Dave Hau" _nospam wrote in message . com... It really depends on your computer and the software you want to use the
external drive with (e.g. Ghost). For generic products, without testing it out yourself, it's hard to say whether it'll work, even if you know what USB chipset they use. Also, if the enclosure does not have adequate cooling, your HD might get too warm. The advantage of using a well known brand name like Maxtor is that you know a lot of people have used the product on different systems and many of the bugs have been resolved. Another enclosure I've had good results with is the ADS Dual Link. But again, it's not as cheap as generic enclosures. - Dave "Golf Nut" wrote in message ... Thanks for your input Dave.
