8300 reverts to "default monitor" instead of M992
Andrew, when starting the computer, always be sure the
monitor is turned on first. Then Windows will know which monitor is in use and configure itself accordingly. Actually, I leave my monitor on all the time. It powers itself down to a very low wattage once the computer shuts off. But it is awake enough to identify itself to Windows once the computer is turned on again and Windows starts. Andrew wrote: After installing an ATI 8500le card, my Dimension 8300 reverts to "default monitor" settings after a shutdown. When it reverts to default monitor, I end up getting an interlaced display because it does remember that I'm running at 1280 x 1024. I have to go and "Add Hardware" to get the M992 to show up as available again. It seems as though it needs to be shut down for a few minutes before this happens. If I restart, it doesn't seem to happen either. I'm running XP Home edition, with the latest ATI drivers. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks, Andrew |
