Default Minimum # of members in a stripe for performance gain?

What is the minimum number of members (drives) I need in a raid 0
stripe in order to gain read/write performance advantages?

Some people I've talked to say 3, others say 4. Anyone know the
answer?

thanks.

2 drives would get you almost double performance :-)

What you might want to work out is the theoretical throughput of the bus
(SCSI, IDE or FC), then find out what the theoretical maximum throughput of
each of your drives is then work out how many of your drives would fit the
capacity of the bus you are using ... only guestimates but good enough.

Regards

Mark
