Default NFTS compatibility with Mac OS X, Linux, OpenBSD?

Hello,

I have known NTFS to not be natively compatible with Mac OS X, Linux,
and OpenBSD in the past. I have external firewire/USB drives that I
would like to plug in and read from these systems. I format these
external drives with FAT32 for better compatibility (although I'm not
sure of the OpenBSD stuff).

I'd like to move these drives to NTFS and still be managed natively
and with significant stability and maturity from the aforementioned
systems. Can I do this today? If not, projects for the future?

Matt

There's certainly an active development project for LINUX NTFS capability,
