XP 2400+ on Asus A7V266
Hi,
I've just upgrade my processor from a 1900+ to the 2400+ and upgraded the BIOS but on booting it only sees the CPU as a 2000+. In the BIOS I get options of 2000 or 2666 (setting to 2666 just hangs). There are also manual options (setting e.g. 133/33 and multipliers). What is the normal setting for this (the default is 100 with 20x multiplier). I've run some benchmark software and it comes out just over a 2000+ ! The ALU seems to be the problem. Any ideas? Thanks. John |

Well, I'm not familiar with your MB, but it appears that it's running at 2000MHz, not as an XP 2000+, which only runs at 1666MHz. The default speed for the 2400+ is 2000MHz (15x133). On older boards this defaults to 20x100. Same speed but with a slower FSB. Try the manual settings starting with 7x133. The 7 setting will actually be 15x. See Multiplier Cross ref in link below. if it comes up at 1500Mhz then you know the 133FSB setting won't work with it. Then try 9x133 (2166MHz) and raising vcore to 1.75v. If that works you can leave it there or play around with other settings. There are many different ways to set this up. You might even want to turn jumper free of and see what you can get using the dip switches on the board for the multiplier and FSB. Lots to paly with.:-) -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.html |
