Default SATA and a CDRW on A7N8X Deluxe R2

Is there a reason you want to forego the use of IDE altogether? I would
think that having your CD-RW on the IDE controller separate from the SATA
controller would provide performance superior to that of adding an IDE
device as a slave on an SATA controller, is that an incorrect assumption?
Especially for an optical drive I don't see the benefit other than ditching
the IDE cable or just seeing if you can, in all seriousness maybe you can
help me understand?

Thanks,

Koop

Has anyone successfully got a CD device to run on the SATA channels? Over

at
NForceHQ, someone said you can only run a hard drive with a SATA converter
on the SATA channels, but the manual says that they should run a hard

drive
or CD-rom. I want to run my CD-RW/DVD Combo drive with a converter on
channel 2 I got a 'cuda V 80GB hard drive on Channel 1. The SATA drive and
the CD-RW/DVD Combo are the only devices I'm running so if both of them

are
on the SATA, no IDE channels are being used. Could this be a problem? I

got
a Highpoint Rocket SATA converter, and when I hook it up to the SATA

channel
2, I get a "faded Windows Logo" screen that hangs. If I unplug the cable
from channel 2 everything's fine. Anyone know if this can be done?

Thanks
Flaco
