Its a standard flip-chip underneath. I wished Intel would have just left it alone and not glued that damn hunk of metal on it. Here, read this: http://www.overclockers.com/tips1087/ As for removing the heat spreader, between the hazards of the operation and the increased chance of damage to the core later (when mounting and unmounting the heatsink) I think I will pass on that for now. I cannot easily afford to buy a new CPU if things were to go badly wrong. wise guy, mine frend temporary killed his Tuallie when removing IHS... -- Regards, SPAJKY - http://freeweb.siol.net/jerman55/HP/Spajky.htm Celly-III OC-ed "Tualatin on BX-Slot1-MoBo!" Believe it or not, he DID it! :-) (a week later when he calmed down a bit - he is kind a "specialist in MicroElectr.surgery" & repairs & modifies cellular phones & has all needed equipment to do the job) The problem was to connect back accidentaly cuted 4 traces on the upper PCB support (Cpu base-green) for the core connections close to it (he was using Olfa supercutter while removing IHS.. ) & he managed to solder them back again after few unseccessfull tries... I could not believe my own eyes! ... That tiny tiny traces ! (we had no adequate camera to document this & now he doesn´t wanna touch the CPU/slotket/HSF combo again, it runs perfectly 1.0A@1,42G again! btw..) He also "lapped" that tinyCpu core (not the IHS !) & HS w/copper base + AS-II paste & he gained few extra °C temp drop.. so it runs @default Vcore (mine runs at that max. @1,4G even if better sample than his) Unbelievable! :-) job done! -- Regards, SPAJKY - http://freeweb.siol.net/jerman55/HP/Spajky.htm Celly-III OC-ed "Tualatin on BX-Slot1-MoBo!" I had stopped reading overclockers.com quite some time back; they had gotten so AMD-centric, and their insistence of referring to the P4 as "PIV" for some reason annoyed me considerably. Yes I guess you could call it a pet piv. :-) and the fact that they won't except the fact that the new 800 FSB cpu's have knocked them off the top..... DOUG They are still saying AMD is fastest, and that the PR rating (of the latest CPUs) is accurate? That is not the conclusion of any other review that I have read. I'm glad I took overclockers.com off my regular reading list. -- Tony Sivori |

AMD components still offer a value.
Epox 8RDA+ = $90 XP2600+ = $96 total = $186 Abit IC7 = $150 P4/2.66b = $190 total = $340 "Tony Sivori" wrote in message ... pete wrote: Allot faster and ALLOT less errors and problems too! Sandra Provides a fairly consistant PR rating.
My OC'ed P4c at 3260Mhz (250fsb) is PR4332 My prior OC'ed XP at 2400Mhz (200fsb) had a PR rating of about 3500 "Tony Sivori" wrote in message ...
