Default presario 2200 laptop time loss

Yes there is a cmos battery and it surely does sound like it's dead.

I have a presario 2200 laptop, 2months old, it will after being off a night
reset the time to 12 am jan 1 2004. does this unit have a cmos battery or is
the time onboard a chip. it certainly is too soon for a battery to fail. any
other reasons for such a failure, the battery is kept charged
