Default Must these ATI programs load at startup? Help needed please!

I upgraded from Catalyst 3.4 to 3.5 and ATI Poll and ATI Smart now
load at Win 98se startup. Do I really need these to load for a good reason?

Thank you.

I disable Polling, but leave Smartgart alone, it only runs once at
startup.

But you can disable Smartgart too if you want to. After all, it is a
complete waste of time after the initial driver install.

From
http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/strangeservice.htm :

"This service is installed if you update to the latest ATI video card
drivers. It provides the ability to test your particular configuration
for compatibility issues and stability issues. The location is also in
the ATI display properties control panel."

The site author's recommendation is to disable the service, although it
only runs at bootup and then unloads itself anyway.
