Default HP LaserJet 6P's C3903A toners' leaks!

Hello.

Are HP LaserJet 6P's C3903A toners supposed to leak black ink when
moving them around? This happened when taking the old one out to replace
with the new one (HP's brand) with their removed tape covers. The leaks
happened outside of the old printer.

Thank you in advance.

It depends entirely how much leaked. These very old cartridges sometimes spill
a little when they are removed. The seals are pretty simple and not always
perfect.
Old toner cartridges still contain carrier (the carrier is a fine powder that
carries the toner to the drum and when the cartridge is no longer any use the
carrier remains, often called waste toner - something of a misnomer really).

Some HP cartridges contain a 'waste toner' bin. That can leak if it's a
bit full on removal.

A little splatters here and there (e.g., fingers, floor, printer
case/cover, and table). They were not massive leaks, but still annoying
though!

Even in unused toners?

No, you said 'when taking the old one out'.

Yes that sounds exactly like that cartridge, they sometimes leak a little when
new. Most newer designs are much better and if handled carefully are good.
