Default CCL disappointment

Got a bit of kit today from CCL.

The box had a sticker on it which said something like "checked for
quality control". The sticker was placed so that opening the box would
rip it.

I immediately phoned CCL and asked if the box had been opened. I was
told that it had. I asked if the item (a graphics card) could have
been installed in another PC to check it worked. I was told that it
could have been.

I told CCL that that made the item second hand and I did not want it.
Returned it the same day for a full refund.

Be warned.

So how do you think the manufacturers check the card before sending it
out of the factory? Does that checking make the card secondhand?

Personally I wouldn't car in the slightest, what difference does it
make to me if the card has been plugged in to some other computer
before I get it? Apart from anything else it probably reduces my
chance of getting a card which is going to fail prematurely.

Electronics (in general) either works or it doesn't, once past the
first few days/weeks of use it will most likely carry on working for
several years. 'Secondhand' really has no meaning in this context.

You are not qualified to judge, malagas.

They tested your card before sending it and you complain.

They did not ask me and I did not ask them to check anything.

Absolutely! I am clearly not the first to have complained.

If you are that put out I would take your business elsewhere, I would
suspect they would be pleased to lose a cutomer as touchy as you.
I would be quite happy that it had been quality checked and would not be
concerned at all about it being tested before being sent. Pity they didn't
send you a faulty one and put you through the time wasting of having to RMA
it to get it replaced.

They were a good company and RMAs were no chore.
