Default External RAID hardware recommendations - Promise, JetStor, Nexsan...

We selected the Promise VTrak 300i primarily to store disk-to-disk
backups, and secondarily as storage for Exchange and application
servers. I've since heard from suppliers that Promise has terrible
customer support. Vendors have suggested JetStor or Nexsan as better
choices.

Is Promise a company to avoid? Is JetStor any better?
Comments/recommendations welcome.

If you can not afford an EMC, Netapp, HP, or IBM. I would go with
Nexsan. I have not heard anything bad about them. They are the low
end but if that is what you need it may be the best fit. I imagine you
are doing network attached storage and running CIFS file sharing.

I second that. We have 15+ Nexsan arrays (both ATABOY and ATABeast) and
they are the best vaule for the price. Very stable and excellent
support. Now they are moving towards SATA drives which is a good thing.
