Snap Server 4100 aborts on boot
My boss just gave me a hand-me-down Snap Server 4100 that we've had
shelved for a couple of years now. Unfortunately, it won't complete it's boot and cleanup anymore. Initial startup works fine and the web interface works almost immediately. I can view information and toggle some settings (except disk configuration stuff) for about 20 minutes before I get the error E-mail and the boot dies. The lights continue flashing, but I've left the server running for a few days and it never recovers. I've already done the "four light" full reset. I've tried all sorts of combinations of error repair setting combinations. The disk status check shows 5% on our RAID 5 setup and it seems to jump to 85% before the failure occurs. All the configuration tools show "No disks found." From this newsgroups traffic, it sounds like these devices are garbage which is unfortunate since it's such a cool idea. Here's the error E-mail it sends after the boot fails: ================================================== ================== 01/13/2006 14:41:35 FATAL ERROR PANIC : General Protection Fault (#13) at $001FC450 EAX=6D6F646C EBX=0172FC90 ECX=0043B39C EDX=6D6F646C ESP=0043B328 EBP=0043B340 ESI=6D6F646C EDI=00000000 ================================================== ================== The previous message occurred in the following context within the system log: 01/13/2006 14:41:35 ERROR Network Status Monitor : Failed to delete directory localdomain.
