what version of windows and service pack
This should be dead easy but it is not. I have Windows 7 32 bit
ultimate. It should tell me this as well as if I have service pack one on which I do. Why are simple things made so hard? Desmond. |

On other OSes, you use the "System" control panel. http://www.techarp.com/article/Micro...e/start_01.jpg The System should display different info, after SP1 is installed. It won't be this exact value, but this demonstrates where to look, with respect to the previous picture. http://img.askleomedia.com/2010/win7sp1installed.png Paul |

someone claiming to be Des typed: This should be dead easy but it is not. I have Windows 7 32 bit ultimate. It should tell me this as well as if I have service pack one on which I do. Why are simple things made so hard? Hold the Windows Key and press Pause/Break, or go to Control Panel -- System. This has worked on every version since NT (and possibly earlier, I really don't recall) and it will tell you what OS you're running, what service pack level (if any), what architecture (x86/x64), how much memory is available and various other goodies. |

All I do when in a hurry for the above information is right click on the computer icon, the one where if you double left clicked on it would bring up the hard drive(s) and such. That shows me the software version, Highest service pack loaded if one exists, 32 or 64 bit operating system, CPU chip speed info, ETC. |
