9800 Pro's and power supplies
What are the smallest power supplies anyone is using with a 9800Pro (stock)
reliably? Small power supplies as in SFF PC's and mATX cases with mATX power. They usually have 250 or 270w at best. And there arent many mATX power supply options. |

I would be inclined to get a 400w, you can probably do it with 350 though. I
depends on how many peripherals you have connected. http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/ "Sept1967" sept1967@highstream.(Erase)net wrote in message ... Can't be many. |

I have been running my 9800 Pro with a cheap quality 300w PS (its probably only as good as a quality 275w PS) . Its PC with a P4 2.2ghz w/92mm cpu fan, 1GB mem, DVD-RW,DVD,SBLive,two 7200 rpm HDD's, video capture/editing PCI card, 1 80mm case fan. No problems with power. I would think you might have more problems with heat and air flow for the VGA card in a small case. I use the Arctic cooler and it blows the air out the back. Lou |

The Wattage rating can be wildly misleading. Ben -- A7N8X FAQ: www.ben.pope.name/a7n8x_faq.html Questions by email will likely be ignored, please use the newsgroups. I'm not just a number. To many, I'm known as a String... |

And there arent many mATX power supply options. You should be fine since with the SFF mATX cases like the Shuttle series , you have very little other things in there using lots of wattage. Only the CPU and one HD and the 9800m Pro will not tax the 270W PS |
