Node WWN and Port WWN
It's similiar to a parent/child relationship - a Node (the parent) can have
multiple Ports (the child). Not all vendors configure the relationship this way, some will have a unique Node Name for each Port on a multi ported device. On a more practical note, for servers, each HBA will have its own WWNN and WWPN straight out of the box. If you have multiple HBAs installed in a single server, then the server will often take the WWNN of the first HBA and use that as *its* WWNN. All the other HBAs will be instructed to report their WWNN as the server's WWNN. |
