just installed a mobo but
The first goal is being able to get the bios to boot without the bios
nothing at all will happen, what happens is.. ... you power the computer up, the bios does a self test if all ok it will give the ok signal and will boot up, giving a single bleep and you will if you want to be able to access the bios set up screen... the next stage of events it will hand the control over to the CPU... the cpu will tell the hard drive to load windows and start up programmes into RAM and away you go. It seems that you are not getting beyond bios boot, if you remove the video card you should get a series of bleeps which indicate an error code, providing there's a speaker of some description mounted internally or on the mobo from it.... The bios battery ain't duff by any chance or is it because you are using a PCI slot and is it configured ? Without bios boot up you won't be able to load windows, as said previously you will get bios boot up and be able to access the bios set up screen with just the.... cpu, ram and graphic card nothing else will come into play until passing the Power On Self Test. Maybe the answer is trying a AGP card in just to see what happens. davy |
