Default Dell Inspiron 6000 and cleaning...

Hi there,

I have had a dell inspiron 6000 for a few months now
and am generally happy with it. Unfortunately I am finding that the
silver casing is getting black in some areas and the keyboard is
getting dusty. Could someone please give me some advice on how to clean
the casing/keyboard and trackpad - is it ok to try and clean the
trackpad or is it easily damaged?.

many thanks for any input,

Alex

Hi...
If the case is getting black because the silver is wearing off, (you
were not specific) then all you have in the way of options is a new
case or new paint job. If black is coming from dirt, any kitchen
liquid cleanser on a piece of cloth is OK - formula 409, for example.
Or any soap` CARE not to get liquid in the case.

As for keyboard, I cover mine whn not in use, but then Arizona is all
dust..everywhere, from the blowing winds across the desert. I cover
EVERYTHING when not in use. With power off, you can clean it with a
damp rag alone.. Or use a vacuum cleaner, or take it apart and dust it.

Finally, for a cleaner shinier case, I found that Pledge, or any other
furniture cleaner keeps it bright and shiny....using a cloth
only..never directly onto the case.

Hi there,

I tried cleaning the case but it seems that it is the
silver that is wearing away and not dirt. Is this a common problem with
these laptops? or am I just unlucky?
