Default formatted hard drive

Got new system (customised B110 - XP home). As I don't need all junk
demoware, and not happy the way they split hard drive space into 4(!)
partitions, I thought that the best action is to format the hard drive,
and make clean XP install. Unfortunately I discovered that I can't just
take XP OEM disk from another system install XP and transfer the XP
licence number from the sticker. It seems that the only way to get back
is to ftp dell system image and cut install CD. Now the question is
which CD image?

(I know, I filed a ticket already. Hope they'll get back soon).

I've never seen a Dell with a partitioned harddrive and AFAIK any Dell
XP CD should work just fine and not require activation.

Exactly. The original poster has found out that a run-of-the-mill XP OEM CD
will not work. He needs a Dell OEM CD. Best thing to do is to call Dell and
order the CD set for $10 or whatever they are charging these days... Ben Myers

They indeed are sending the XP CD that I need (and applications CD that
I don't;-), apparently for free.
