Hi & thanx in advance

question .. can a PCIe 2.0 card be installed on a mobo that is only
listed to take PCIe .. presumably 1.0 ?

I have no experience with this by myself, but here is a link to Wikipedia.
Note that they use terms like "generally" and "overall".

Yes, they can. The only exception to this were some older Nvidia PCIe
2.0 cards (like the 8800GT) which at the beginning had issues when
running in a PCIe 1.x system.
