Default Which is better: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ or Intel Pentium 2 GHz?

Hi there

I'm creating a new PC - I'd like to find out which
CPU will give better performance in a PC used for
digital video editing:

An AMD Athlon XP 1800+ or an Intel Pentium 2GHz?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Gary Hendricks

Well, I don't think you can find an Intel Pentium 4 2 GHz any more, and if
you could, you wouldn't want it. That's the non-northwood version with the
0.18 micrometer feature, size, the higher core voltage, and the small L2
cache. It would have extremely limited overclocking potential. The
Northwood version is the Pentium 4 2A GHz.

A Pentium 4 2A GHz is three times the price of an AMD Athlon XP 1800+ ($150
US vs. $50 US). BUT, for just $170 US you can get a Pentium 4 2.4 C GHz
with a 800 MHz FrontSideBus, hyperthreading, and good potential to easily
overclock above 3 GHz. That's just a bit cheaper than the AMD Athlon XP
+2800.

It all depends on your requirements and what you enjoy.
