Default Video Card Advice - Please

I am building a computer for my daughter. I am an experienced computer
builder. I have all the parts necessary to build her a decent system,
but I have not been in the loop lately in the area of video cards. She
will do some gaming, but I don't want to go high end. Can some of you
suggest a video card for less than, say, $100 that I can be assured
will handle most games acceptably? Any feedback appreciated.

An ATI Radeon 9000 Pro is about that price or you could probably find a
GeForce4 Ti4200 for slightly more. Both good cards.

Hmm, Radeons seem to be $50 - $450. Maybe you should be a bit more specific?

Concur. These are the best performance/buck on the market. Ti4200 is
probably the one you're really asking for. It's more than $100 though.
Radeon 9000 is probably the only other one you need to consider, down
at $70. Sorry, there doesn't seem to be anything worthwhile in
between.
Mind you, neither of these cards have hardware support for DX9
features. But I assume that is a mute point, considering your budget,
anyway.
