laptop DVD writer are not properly work

Hello TO All of You.
I want to share my issue. I have a laptop which have DVD writer.The warranty period of my laptop has been ended.
Actually, my laptop DVD writer are not properly work.My laptop DVD writer has such type that CD are gone inside the laptop.
since nine months DVD writer only run the window vista DVD and drivers CD which came with laptop that is orignal CD/DVD. and not other CD/DVD are not run in my laptop. But now it not run any type of CD/DVD even not run window vista DVD and drivers CD which came with laptop.
I were ask from this from laptop manufacturer company they says your laptop DVD writers are damage and replacement is only alternate for you.
Can you suggest me for this concern.
please help me.

Kumar, I believe, is not a native English speaker, and I'm hopelessly
parochial, but, he might only have a software problem. Or, at least he
might have only *had* a software problem, but now has a hardware failure.

Try to boot a Linux Live CD, like this one:

http://www.xubuntu.org/get

If you can load Xubuntu, then your cd/dvd is not dead. It may only be a
software problem.
