No video, fans spin up.

Hey, I was curious.
I just bought a budget motherboard for a budget system I'm building
for a friend. When I power on the system, the fans spin up, but there
is no video output. I recently noticed that the motherboard does not
support the processor I have installed (it supports Celerons, I have
a Celeron D installed). Could this be the source of the problem, or
should I start testing other things such as memory, video card, etc?

If the motherboard does not support Celeron D, then the processor
simply will not run. There is a pin on the processor, that
senses it is in the wrong kind of motherboard. That pin stops
the processor. You will need to find the right kind of
processor for the motherboard, for your build to work.

That is why some of these motherboards are a bargain, because
they need an older processor to work properly.

If the motherboard does not support the CPU then, yes, that is the problem.
