No audio using front earphone jack
Hi,
Just completed building a new computer. Parts purchase online including a Cd-r (brown box). There is no audio using the front earphone jack on the Cd-r. However, there is audio when i insert the headphone into the on-board jack at the back of the computer (green color jack). I also have connected the 3-wired 4-connector cable from the motherboard to the cd drive. Thanks in advance. TPJOE |

Thanks in advance. If you have digital audio turned on then the front jack will not work. You might want to consider pluging an extention cord into the back port, keep it up front, and plug the headphones or external speakers into that... and switch between them when you want. That way you are not limited to only using your headphones with CDA disks. |

Hi Theo,
I also have to turn off the on-board audio via the CMOS, in order to use the front earphone jack. I think your suggestion of using an extension is a good idea. Thanks again. tpjoe On Sat, 21 Feb 2004 16:03:10 -0500, tpjoe wrote: Hi, Just completed building a new computer. Parts purchase online including a Cd-r (brown box). By default Windows configures CD Audio to play in digital mode (via the
ribbon vable). As the only good reason for doing so is to display CD text (which Media Player cannot do) then you can recover the headphone function by switching to analogue mode. You need to do this both in the CD player and Media player properties. -- Graham Mayor tpjoe wrote: Hi, Just completed building a new computer. Parts purchase online including a Cd-r (brown box). Hi Graham Mayor,
Thanks to you and Theo , now i can use the headphone jack on the Cd drive to listen to .CDA music, without going into the CMOS. Thanks for your help.
