Is there consumer s/w available now that uses multi-core CPUs?
This is my quad core eight thread CPU at about 90% for
several minutes while compressing a file using 7zip. Yes, even freeware has caught up with multicore CPUs. https://www.flickr.com/photos/27532210@N04/? Besides the fact as you can see in the pic there are hundreds of processes and thousands of threads open at the same time on a typical PC. -- "Yes" wrote: Maybe OT, but given the thread about future CPUs, is there consumer software now that actually uses the multi-core CPU technology? I mean, all the additional cores sounds nice, but has any consumer s/w caught up with the hardware? TIA, John Howland |

Run some highly demanding Excel benchmarks, and you'll see all cores pegged to 100%. Various games designed for DirectX 12 and Vulcan API's are also highly multithreaded. -- Sent from Giganews on Thunderbird on my Toshiba laptop |
