askpcexperts??? Who are they?
Bob and Ron, these old machines are particularly reliable. Why, I have no idea why, just that they are. Mine too have been on 7/24 for many years, with all on there own UPS. The only time they are down is the occasional reboot to refresh the Win XP SP3 install. I stopped updating them a while back.
My biggest problem is that the primary C drives are all but full. I really out smarted myself by doing three partitions on small OEM 40 to 80 Gb hard drives, with a 10Gb c, 10Gb d (scratch drive, remember them?) and the rest for programs and data. Never thought Windows XP, Office Pro 97 and some other programs would ever eat up a 10Gb hard drive... No way. But it did, with all the Service Packs over the years. Good to see you folks still lurking about here along with Ben and now me. I am now running dual 24" monitors, with Win 7 Pro on a new Dell XPS with an i7 processor, 1TB HD, and 24Gb of RAM. It's a tad faster than my trusty Dim 4550. Lol I also use an LG G3 with Android mobile to post here. Any suggestions for a free news reader for both? MS Outlook in Office Pro 2010 does not seem to be news group friendly, like my old outlook express installs. Take care, Pat C |

Never upgrade. -- On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |
