Default Prime95 Crash

I recently built a new machine
Asus p4p800vm
2.8c proccesor
1gb ram
radeon 9600 se
2 problems first system would not come out of standby, hd made
knocking noise. I replaced the hitachi sata drive with a seagate ide
drive. That fixed that problem.
Second prime95 crashes after 6 hours. Does not report a rounding
error but crashes. CPU heat never goes above 50c. memtest runs fine.
I am at a loss, please make some suggestions.

Suggest you don't worry about it.

Unless Prime95 always crashes, or crashes predictably in a specific test,
there's no need to obsess over it. Sometimes an app kicks in while it's
running, an XP auto-update, screensaver, power-saving mode, virus checker,
etc, that can upset the apple cart.

A 6-hour loop with Prime95 is a pretty good sign the system is stable in
normal use. If it runs MemTest, the memory is fine.

If it only crashes after Prime has run for 6 hours the obvious answer is:
'don't run Prime for 6 hours'.
As long as there are no problems with any 'real' programs you can safely
turm a blind eye.
