Default IDE cd/dvd detected as SCSI: part 2

sorry for the wasted post. i found the problem. it was ICQ. uninstalled,
reinstalled and it works. obviously didnt like the uninstalation of the IDE
SW drivers.

sorry for those on slow connections who downloaded the 171kb post

ok, thank you to TPM for the previous post reply, removing the nforce2
drivers, and reinstalling without the IDE SW drivers has now made the

drives
(including the HDD aswell) show as an IDE drive, as they should be.

but theres now an adverse side-effect.

when you startup winXP it's rather slow.
in picture 1, the pagefile usage graph steady increases.
in picture 2, it peaks at around 2.05GB page file usage, and then rapidly
drops down to (as it always is) a 158mb file.

the CPU:PF ratio is 1:1, so the graphs move in time with each other, and

as
you see it's all HDD access, and not a CPU overload.

on 1 hand i have cd burner problems with the IDE SW drivers that are
optionally installed with the 2.03 (?? - the latest) nforce drivers. on

the
other, without the optional IDE SW drivers, the pagefile goes crazy and
renders pc useless for the first 2-3mins of start up.

so, any ideas?

thanks
tim draper
