Default Inspiron 600m Immediate Shutdown on Battery Power

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m that is about two months old. When I try
to start the computer on battery power, Windows starts to load, but
immediately shuts down within a matter of seconds. The computer will
work without any problems when on AC power. I thought that the battery
might be low, but the indicator on the battery and in the computer's
power meter show the battery at 100%. This problem occured for the
first time yesterday. I had been using the computer on battery power
for a couple of hours, and then the computer shut down without any
warning. I know that the battery had to be somewhat depleted, but the
meters still showed the battery at 100% when I checked. I thought
after running the battery on AC for several hours that the battery
would recharge if low battery power was the problem, but I am still
encountering the porblem. Has anyone heard of this before? Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brian

Thanks for the suggestion. I should have called Dell to begin with,
but I thought it might be a problem other than the battery needing to
be replaced. I called Dell, and they are sending a replacement
battery.
