New graphics card causes speakers to hum?
I just replaced the graphics card on my recording PC to a Chaintech FX
5200 AGP 256MB, with both a DVI & VGA out. I moved my flat-panel Gateway FPD1500 monitor (DVI conector), from my business PC (with Cambridge speakers - no hum), next to my recording PC's FPD1700 (VGA connector). Now my M-Audio BX5 powered monitor speakers (they are next to the FPDs) emit this loud hum whenever the FPD1500 is powered on, and any sound files I play are very quiet. With just the FPD1700 powered on, there is no hum. (Soundcard is an Audiophile 2496.) At the same time, I also bought an APC surge suppressor with 11 outlets and plugged everything into that, although plugging either the speakers or the FPD1500 into a separate wall AC socket made no difference to the hum. Any ideas what could be causing this hum? Thanks in advance, Howie. |
