Monitor (correction)
The link I provided below is not to XP SP3, but to the overview pdf file
which discusses it. The latest version of SP3 I have found is Release Candidate 2, Refresh, not the final version, which was published on March 6th, 2008 Art Arthur Entlich wrote: Although, it was released on April 1, 2008, which might make some people suspicious, Service Pack 3 for XP is an official MS product. From MS's website: Overview Windows® XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the operating system. This update also includes a small number of new functionalities, which do not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system. This white paper summarizes what is new in Windows XP SP3. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en However, he did mention that the problem occurred pre-updating to SP3. My guess is something you are running, either a game, program of utility are running in 8 bit graphics mode, or you have a built-in software utility from your graphics card which may be switching the card on you, either at the request of something, or due to some conflict. You may need to remove and reinstall the the video drivers. It is also possible a hardware problem has developed. Make sure the cabling from the computer to the monitor is well inserted and stabilized with the screw-downs, and a good quality cable, and that your video card is well installed in the computer. This could still be an electronic failure in the monitor or your video card. Also make sure your AC power cable to the power bar or the wall is well inserted. When I reboot, it comes up OK then goes dark and comes back up in 8 bit. I have XP withSP3. The problem came before SP3. Any help would be appreciated because this is a pain to keep changing. Ray *) ) #1 This has nothing to do with printers... try posting to the proper newsgroup. #2 Microsoft never released an "official" SP3 for winXP... so you may not have wanted to install it at all. |
