Default FDISK /MBR and fixmbr did not work, but I have a little plan that might work.

Harry:

I couldn't get into 'Recovery Mode', (I presently only have DOS) and
so was not able to use fixmbr from the Windows XP CDROM. FDISK /MBR
did not work either. People at were so kind to help
me the last few days, but to no avail.

I will now reinstall WXP on another HD on the same laptop and make a
backup of MBR and partition table. I will then attempt to load the
backup onto the broken HD and then use Active@partitionrecovery for my
last recovery attempt. I'm still open for other suggestions though,
but have little hope left.

When I succeed (or not) I"ll post it here.

Thanks for thinking with me, regards, Harry.

It didn't work, because of a read error on the drive.
So now I have to recover the data I guess.
