Default no composite video or audio with ASUS 7100 dd. 44.03 / Digital VCR 23.52

Atempting to record from Digital camcorder to Digital VCR ver. 23.52
using composite selection. Can only see video if S-video is
connected. Not receiving audio & composite video from ASUS AV adapter
(I test camcorder and cables against other systems and they work
fine).

I've installed ASUS display driver vers. 44.03 (Win2KXP 44.03.zip) and
nvidia WDM drivers vers. 1.19 (nvWDMCapDrv1.19_Update.exe). Note: All
attempts to install nVidia WDM vers. 2.13 drivers
(2.13_wdm-vivo_tv.exe) fail as I get a code 10 "Cannot Start" error on
the "nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal) device." For the last two
weeks and all day today I've uninstalled and re-installed many times
and using different combinations as I read and attempted all solutions
suggested in google/groups and the asus tech references dating back as
far as 2001. But to no avail.

Basically, it seems like the ASUS Card is not carrying the composite
video or audio signals from the ASUS AV adapter. This was working
fine until I upgraded display drivers so it is not a hardware problem
but seems to be all software.

My guess is that there is some registry setting that is out of wack.

Some useful DxDiag output:
