Default Opinions wanted: Compaq R3030US / R3050US Laptop

Buying a new laptop this week - for price and features,
the Compaq R3030US (or if I decide I really need a DVD
burner, the R3050) seems to have everything I could ask
for, at a price I can afford.

But how good are they? I've heard some negatives about
Compaq, but then again I've heard bad things about almost
EVERY manufacturer at one time or another.

Anyone have one of the above? Comments? Pros - Cons?

Thanks for any input....

Dave
