Default Jerky graphics

I have recently installed Broken Sword 3 onto my windows xp system. I was
frustrated to get jerky graphics and thought I had a solution by moving the
3d slider from balance to high quality. When I rebooted the problem
returned. I know find that moving the slider and getting the short blank
screen is what is needed and the setting is not important. It's a shame that
whaever reinitialization this does is not achieved by the intialization at
boot up!

I've also posted about jerky video capture. Perhaps this reintialization
could fix that?
