canon cleaning cycles

Currently I have a MP180. This is my third Canon. When it finally gives me
the waste pad error I'm gonna throw it in the trash and you could not give
me another Canon. Turn it on, cleaning cycle. Print a page, cleans before it
prints. Then it cleans after printing the page. And when I turn it off I
want it to TURN OFF! NOT clean itself again! 4 cleaning cycles to print one
page!
I'm gonna try a Kodak

Yes I've tried leaving it on all the time. That does eliminate some
cleaning. But there is just too much unnecessary ink wasting with these
things.

I have other Canon models. What I notice is a cleaning cycle when not
used in a few days and turned on. In the middle of a long document or
many pictures, it will clean. I have the lid of my printers cut away
so I can observe the carts and any time. The cleaning cycle must be
very minimal because I don't notice high ink use because of it. I
have plugs installed on top of all the carts so I can add ink at any
time.
If you are really getting four cleaning cycles to a page, you know
that is wrong. The printer is defective or there is some obstruction.
You say the ink pad warning keeps coming up so you have a defective
printer unless you are running a copy service.
By the way, what went wrong with your first two Canons?

Don't yet have the waste pad warning but I know it's coming with all the
cleaning.
I've downloaded a utility to supposedly reset it but it's untried and I have
my doubts.
Four cleaning cycles for a page is if it has been off a day and I turn it on
to print one page.
I have used almost all of a color cartridge to print about 10 pages.
I dont think it's defective, I think Canon is a total ripoff!
The printer knows I have refilled the carts and it's wasting ink just as
fast as it can.
My other Canons behaved much the same.
My experience with Epson is they are clog machines, and HP is too ridiculous
to reset the cart chips.
Havent tried Lexmark or Kodak. Just want an honest printer. I'll gladly pay
more for the printer rather than this sneaky ink sales technique with cheap
printers. Is there any printer that will let ME decide when to clean the
nozzles?

With all the printers you are purchasing, maybe it's time to go laser
and dump the ink entirely.
Why would Canon chose to single out your printers for all this ink
use? Mine don't have the problem. In fact, I can park a Canon for
months and turn it on without it being clogged.
