Default Editing Scanned Documents

I'm looking for a good software that can edit a scanned document. I'm
trying to edit scanned documents that are sometimes old and faded and
I would like to clean up the scanned documents, clearing blurred
letters and texts. If anyone has experience or know a good software
that would the job, please advise. Thanks in advance.

Nearly any Photo Editor can do the editing and cleaning up of scanned
documents.

Some of the better Editors are Photoshop, Photoshop Elements both at
http://www.adobe.com/ and Paint Shop Pro
http://www.jasc.com/products/paintshoppro/.

Many scanners have a photo editor included as part of the bundle, which will
do the job.

However, it would be better if you made a clean scan first.
http://www.scantips.com will give you instruction on how to get the most
from your scanner.

If you want to have editable text from scanned documents, you need an OCR
software, such as Textbridge, OmniPage Pro or ABBYY FineReader 6.0
Professional Upgrade at http://www.abbyy.com/.

You can buy OCR software from http://www.scantips.com at the best price
anywhere.

Depending on your scanner you may be able to use VirtualReScan from Kofax
(http://www.kofax.com/products/virtualrescan/index.asp). If you have a
supported scanner (http://www.kofax.com/products/virtualrescan/specs.asp)
this product may be helpful to you. It is designed to enhance text that is
faint while, at the same time, removing any coloring or shading that may be
a hindrance to recognition. It is designed for document imaging systems, so
if you have a consumer level scanner it may not be supported. However, it
does support the HP ScanJet 6000 and 7000 series as well as the CanoScan
1220 and 626 scanners.

You can download a demo version at
http://www.kofax.com/support/IP/VRS/3.0/downloads.asp. Just click on the VRS
3.05 download link, fill out the information, and select the desired
download from the succeeding page. When purchased, VirtualReScan uses a
hardware key. Without this key it runs in "demo" mode where it will add the
Kofax logo to random images.
