Do you know HP Color Laserjet 5M? Need Help!
Hi. If you are familiar with the HP Color Laserjet 5M printer I have a few
questions... I bought a used unit for my non-profit (we fix older computers for needy kids) and can't quite get it working.. A few specific questions: 1. When I turn it on, after the self-test, it goes to a message 19.3 Drum User Maintenance and the message stays up there. I found the user maintenance on the HP website, cleaning off the glass and moving the two wires (I am sure there is a better name), but after doing that three times now, the message does not go off. The self test printed page says drum has most of its life left, may even say 100%. The only thing that is low is the coating unit with 5% (but i bought a new fuser unit -- which has the coating pieces, but haven't installed). The test pages look pretty good. HOW CAN I GET THE ERROR MESSAGE OFF? Is there a key code or a trick with the drum unit that will get me past this error message? 2. I can't seem to drive the printer with a computer. There is a good chance I don't have the right driver, but have tried thru a direct parallel cable connection from a comuter (driver seemed to take, but won't print test page and won't drive the printer) and i have been trying to figure out how to set up my network, 10BaseT to drive the printer thru the network, but I can't seem to find the jetdirect port from that printer. I have two other printers on my network run thru jetdirect ports, but this one seems to not be detected by W98 and XP computers. Any suggestions as to how to drive the printer? IS IT POSSIBLE that the pinter won't work or be driven with the 19.3 error message on? 3. The school that sold it to me said that it needs a new Black Developer unit but otherwise worked well. I bought a new unit but haven't installed it because of the 19.3 error. Is it possible that the error message is wrong and it needs a black developer? not sure why this would happen unless it is a known flaw. I don't have the manuals so I can't tell about the error codes or trouble shooting, etc. If you don't mind, please send answers to info ((at))) kramden (dot) org . thanks in advance mark |
