Default HP Laserjet 5MP PDF Users Manual

I just purchased an old, used HP Laserjet 5MP and was wondering if anyone
might have saved a Users Manual in PDF format? It's not available on the HP
site since the printer is so old but I thought that I'd take a shot in the
dark and post this request.

Thanks,
Len

Google for "HPLJ_5P-6P_Service_Manual.pdf"
(This includes the MPs too.)
I had to look it up to work out where the "ON" switch is....

Thanks for the reply Alan,

I already had the service manual downloaded, I was looking for the "users"
manual. It does seem that many printers aren't clear as to what the
switch/buttons do. They have those obtuse icons next to them.

The manual above has the actual title "HP LaserJet 5P Printer Service
Supplement", there are a few slightly different versions, but on page
3 see "Key Printer Locations and Parts" which shows you where the
buttons and connectors are, and page 10-16 has "The HP LaserJet 5P/5MP
Status Panel" which explains what the status lights mean. That's
about all you need for normal operation. (Drivers are built in to
every OS, both PCL and PS; use the PostScript ones.) There's a
troubleshooting section on p 60. I doubt the actual user's manual has
anything else other than how to change the toner cart, plug it in, etc
which you can probably work out.

Alan,

Thanks for checking this PDF out so thoroughly. So XP has the drivers for
this printer?

Win2k does. I don't run XP but I'd be amazed if it didn't.
In any case, you have a choice of running it in either PostScript or
PCL mode. (These are two separate drivers.) If you're at all into
DTP, use PS.
