Epson Stylus Color 600 printing problem

I'm having a problem printing anything to this printer.

drag & droping a text file to the printer driver results in an error

printing a web page from netscape results in an error.

going to the Epson Spooler results in a black screen that lasts for a
few seconds.

I've uninstalled & reloaded the driver two times with the same result.

I think I might have deleted something I shouldn't have, I suspect
something from the common files directory.

it was worked okay prior to my monkeying around.....

I'm out of ideas on how to fix this.
