Default Micky mouse guide to unlocking a 2800 barton

Ok Guys,

yes I am a nooby so bear with me.

Is there a step by step guide on how to unlock a 2800 Barton - what
to look for and how to bridge what links etc? The mobo is a MSI
km4m. All the multipliers seem to be there in the bios, but are
greyed out, supposedly due to the chip being locked. If the chip can
be unlocked and o/clocked, what sort of increase in performance
should I be looking at?

Thanks for any pointers, Mike

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Mike but, at the moment, there is no
known way to unlock that CPU.

Are all 2800s locked? I thought it was only after week 0339 or
thereabouts.

Don't hold your breath. Lots of clever people have tried very hard and
failed already. I doub't if it will ever be possible.

You are correct. But we are all assuming that the OP has a locked 2800, or
he wouldn't be asking the question.
