do I need to keep system sav D?
I was given this compaq pesario 7585 so of course there is no restore CD and I do have my orig win98 CD with product ID number just in case I have to reformat the HD, etc. can I delete all the compaq stuff in D? 985 megs is a lot of space to be wasted on a 10gig drive. |

If that is your recovery partition, then it would be good to save the drivers. There is no guarantee they are on the MS disc. |

Never DELETE anything the vendor put on your system. Copy it to a CD and keep it. Never know when some missing bit of data can save your bacon later. My Compaq has a gigabyte of reinstall stuff, but some idiot deleted the program that lets you reinstall it. And that program can't be downloaded. And my retail copy of XP won't accept the license key and...and... Took me a week to figure out how to get the data off and recreate an install CD that would work with my key. Thank you Compaq. Thank you M$. Amazing how any 12-year-old can install a bootleg copy of an OS, but you have to jump thru hoops to do it legally. Grrrrrr!! SAVE EVERYTHING. mike |
