Canon iP4300 orange light flashes 15 times, won't print
My slightly more than one year old Canon suddenly acted up today when
printing a few photos. I'm using OEM cartridges. I get a message there's a cartridge error, that a cartridge needs to be changed. I opened the "hood" and the black photo cartridge had no red light, the others were all lit up. I ejected the cartridge, reseated it and it lit up red again. I go to print and same error message and the light was off again. The cartridge is more than two thirds full! I put in a fresh new cartridge with a good chip and the same thing happens with the new cartridge. Anyone knows what gives? Have tried it on another computer with the same non-functioning result. My printer is suddenly a paperweight. Thanks, Canon, for putting in these stupid, troublesome chips that are far, far more trouble than they are worth. Actually, there is no benefit, rhyme or reason for them being there in the first place. This kind of thing NEVER happed with my previous Canon printers that were chip-less. Unbelievable! Canon is going to get an earful from me tomorrow! Thanks for any useful comments. |

Can you try to clean the contacts in the printer that mate with the ink tank chip? Other than that it looks like a main board failure unfortunately. Sorry I can't be more positive, good luck. His entire field of expertise lies in asking what type of cartridges one uses - even when you've already told him. Since you need a personal explanation let me give one to you. There are genuine brand new carts and in Canon's case they are factory filled with Canon ink. Then there are those who want to screw the system and reuse a real OEM cart (and sometimes screw with the chip) and refill it with crap ink where they do not even know what it is. These are no longer genuine OEM carts. The poster did not say if he is using genuine brand new Canon ink carts. The only way you can get a genuine brand new ink Cart is to buy one filled with real Canon ink. If that is not the case then what needs to be done to solve the problem is what I originally suggested. If you stretch you mind I bit I am sure you will see the light. |
