I have a good rig for operations and tasks , when i first got my
computer the loading was fast and the performance was excellent
after i installed alot of stuff , games , programs , apps etc.
it became slower , does the ammount of files on the pc effect the
performance permemantly , because i spent last night removing
anything that i dont use , i freed almost 12 gigs
but the performance is still slow , i scanned my pc using microsoft
security essentians and it did not detect any viruses , i also
cleaned my heatsink and applied thermal paste , still no improve ,
im not saying that the performance is bad , its just much slower
than it was before any solutions ?

You didn't mention which OS you're talking about, I'll assume Windows 7. This is a good link to speeding up your
bootup times. I've typically gained about 30 seconds or more of additional speed during boot up after running this. It
requires rerunning every six months or so to speed up the system again.

Makes a lot more sense to hibernate instead of reboot if you must turn it off.

Another thing you should look into is your Windows Event log, and look
under the custom view called "Administrative Events". This view takes
error messages from several different Windows logs and shows the most serious ones in one view. Try to clean up the
repeating errors,
because very likely there will be several on your system, they just
inevitably start cropping up after awhile due to entropy.

Nothing to do with entropy.

It's a figure of speech.

If you model Windows as a partially chaotic system (which it
certainly is, given all the non-rational design decisions),
then it is actually the correct term.

Files on your computer are nothing more than bits of data, 1s and 0s.
When they are sitting on your computer they do not effect how fast you
browse the web, or play a game, or watch a movie, or how fast your
computer starts up.

You can think of your hard drive as a filing cabinet just storing your
files for use at a later time. When you need to pull up a file your
computer knows the precise location of the file and retrieves the file
extremely fast. Simply adding more files to the cabinet only makes the
search for the file marginally slower but it doesn’t make your computer
run slower.

So there are many reasons why your computer might start running slow but
having many files stored on your hard drive will not have any noticeable
effect to our normal computer operations. If you are having problems
with a slow computer you may have adware/spyware, a virus, many startup
programs, or winrot.

Though, just having lots of files on your hard disk by itself is not
going to cause your system to slow down, however having lots of files on
your hard disk is somewhat correlated to having lots of programs running
and being started on your computer.

No it isnt. They can be media files which have nothing to do with
having lots of programs running and being started on the computer.

Maybe there is some sort of indexing service or "desktop search" running
that gets slower as it deals with more files? And by using up more I/O
bandwidth and cache memory, it could slow down the rest of the system.
The same goes for other background tasks that might be running, such as
defragging or scheduled malware scans.

Yeah that's true, there is a desktop search feature built into Windows
(it's very visible in Windows 7, but it has been around since XP). It
could conceivably get slower with the more files it indexes.

Here's some tips about improving search indexing:
