WIN7-Driver for HP Deskjet 815C
Hi all,
my wife had to switch to a new WIN7-PC, and now we see that HP discontinued support for her Deskjet 815C printer long ago. Has anybody a copy of the driver software and can send it to me by PM? Or knows a source where the printer driver can be downloaded? Best Regards Rainer Bielefeld |

At Best it may support NT v3.51 or Win2K Time for a new printer. -- Dave Multi-AV Scanning Tool - http://multi-av.thespykiller.co.uk http://www.pctipp.ch/downloads/dl/35905.asp |

CU Rainer When you go to Add Printer menu where you get to pick which printer to add, where you could say pick other than HP, click on the Windows Update button on the bottom of the window and then wait. It can take quite a few minutes, mine was almost 5 minutes, before your PC will respond again while it is looks for and downloads the latest list of printers. You will then see more than one Manufacturer entry for the HP printers like "HP, Hewlett Packard, Hewlett-Packard". I just did that on both a W7 and a W10 PC and both of them show the HP DeskJet 815C as being available for install under the "HP" manufacturer, but only after doing the "Windows Update" button in the "Install the printer driver" window. Give it a try and see if your machine shows the printer after doing the "update". |

On her PC printer list update via WIN update seems not to work, hangs. And suspicious, no WIN7 update this week. Seems there is something broken in WIN update, I will check that. Thank you Rainer |

Thank you Rainer Good luck. No telling which driver Microsoft will actually use but at least it looks like your old printer might still be functional minus a few features (or not). One thing I noticed on both my W7 and W10 machines is that those "new" printers that show up after the update do not stick around after you exit the printer installer. If you do install one of them the individual printer stays installed but the huge master list does not. It takes the same length of time to download it the second time but at least Microsoft lets you access it online. On your wife's machine you might want to ask for the printer list and then go to bed for the night and see if it is waiting for you in the morning. Kind of what I have done to get W7 updates to show up from time to time. |

WIN7-Driver for HP Deskjet 815C - SOLVED (was: WIN7-Driverfor HP Deskjet 815C)

When you go to Add Printer menu where you get to pick which printer Hello, this failed several times, but today I successfully tried "Install Legacy Software". The Windows update hung, but nevertheless new printers including Deskjet 815C appeared and so I was able to install the required drivers, a test print from an often used document with color pictures looks fine. Thanks to all Rainer |
