AMD CPU and Award BIOS
Can someone tell me if the BIOS will automatically detect and set the CPU
speed, or if this needs to be done manually. Thanks Tom |

As an example on my ASUS A7V8X-MX motherboard and a AMD 2500+ I had to set the bus clock (via dip switches) to 1666MHz and not the default of 100MHz and yes it did work when set to the lower speed. I thought it was a bit strange that I only had a 1.1GHz processor. I think as someone else said you need to read the manual. Thanks Tom |

The newer ones are automatic. Older systems require setting jumpers.
