which nVidia cards support LinkBoost?

Greetings,

I see the new 590 Sli chipset has a feature called LinkBoost.

This feature is supported for the 7950GX2 and the 7900GTX.

But I wonder is that the only two?

I am looking to buy a 7950 GT and amnot sure if it supports LinkBoost?

Anyone know?

Don't know for sure, since I don't have that particular model, but I
don't think it does - NV originally limited this to 7900 GTX/GX2 and up
models. No big deal - just set the speeds manually - it is much like
having memory that doesn't have NV EPP: nothing prevents you from
overclocking it, it just won't be auto-magic on an EPP capable
motherboard.

I am using a FoxConn C51XEM mainboard which has excellent over-clocking abilities.

Also,
it comes with nTune - which adjust the clocking as high as will work.

So,
perhaps that does the same thing as LinkBoost?

(As all Link Boost does is adjust the PCIe clock up by 25%,
so I figure nTune will do the same when it finds it is stable.)

All video cards above 7900 GTX support LinkBoost so you shouldn't have
no problems at all with the 7950 GT, i have a pair of 8800 GTS in SLI
and work flawlessly in LinkBoost and its not the same than
overclocking.

Yes, but it appears than NV does not consider the 7950GT 'above' these,
since it does not seem to
be linkboost capable (see nv/evga/xfx forums and product sites.)
Nonetheless, manual overclocking (and yes, it is *exactly* the same end
result - linkboost is just automatic overclocking of pci-e and mcp HT
enabled) can accomplish the same result.

Yah - the issue is which cards are "above" the 7900GTX is tricky.
It appears the single 7950GT is NOT "above" it.

I think heycarnut is right that LinkBoost is the same as overclocking 25%.

But an official word from nVidia would be nice :-)
