Default Is it easy to make a voice recorder to a hard disk

Hi,

I have been trying to find a digital recorder that can record on a
hard disk or RAM memory which could be then loaded on a PC, and which
can record continuosly for 2 weeks - non stop.
I did not have any success.
Is it easy to make one myself eg by connecting chips and hardware
units?

Many thanks!

Trivial. Install a recent version of Linux, use the "record" program
from the sox package, or the built-in recorder, or get audacity, and in
any case you can record what you want as long as you have the space for it.

If you are just recording voice, you can use a lower sample rate and
mono, if you want good sound use CD settings, 44100 stereo sample/sec,
16 bit data. That takes about 10MB/min, so 60*24*14*10 = ~202GB. That's
easily doable using commodity parts.

Care to comment on what you need for channels and fidelity?

If you insist on trying this with Windows, I strongly suggest the server
version which has been reported to stay up for two weeks without a crash
or hang.
