Default Compaq Deskpro EN series Hard Drive Question

Hi - I've an old Compaq Deskpro EN 6266 and am thinking about getting a 40gb
hard drive. Does anyone know if I`m likely to suffer a 32gb limitation with
the BIOS of this machine as its of 1998 vintage. Will I need a BIOS update
or drive overlay software ?

Thanks for your help.

Default Compaq Deskpro EN series Hard Drive Question

It's probable that the system will have a 32GB limitation. The best way to
overcome the limit is an add-in disk controller card with its own disk BIOS that
effectively replaces the one on the motherboard. A BIOS update from Compaq, if
available, is unlikely to help... Ben Myers

I think your manual is he

The last ROMPAQ he
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/fi...load/9251.html
Says among other things:
"Enhancements
- Enhances reporting of hard drive greater than 64 GB."

I'm not sure if this means that it is only *reporting*.
I guess somebody here can interpret that for the commoners?

I would say it means there is no 32gb limit and the last ROMPAQ officially
supports hard drives greater than 64gb.
